How does MONA learn how my studio works?

Write your studio brief in Settings, How MONA works. MONA reads it at the start of every chat, saves your corrections as rules, and keeps studio and personal memory apart.

Quick answer: MONA learns your studio in three ways. First, a studio brief: an owner or admin writes it in Settings, then How MONA works, and MONA reads it at the start of every chat. Second, corrections: when you tell MONA "never" or "don't", it saves a rule on the spot, listed in Settings, then Rules. Third, memory: MONA keeps studio-wide notes, project notes, and a private notebook for each person, so what one designer prefers does not become a rule for everyone.

What is How MONA works?

How MONA works in Settings opens a note called How we work. It is the standing brief MONA reads at the start of every chat. The starter note has five sections:

  • Who we are: your studio, the kind of work you do, your clients.
  • How we work: your process and how you like things done.
  • Always: things MONA should always do, like "Always show prices with our standard markup."
  • Never: things MONA must never do, like "Never mention vendor names to clients."
  • Do without being asked: things to handle on its own, like "Add new vendors to Contacts."

Short lines work best. The note saves as you type, and a Saved label appears by the title. Every line loads in full at the start of each chat, so edits take effect in your next chat.

Who can change the studio rules?

Only the studio owner or an admin. Studio rules bind every chat for the whole team, so members can open How we work and see the studio rules, but cannot edit them. A member who opens the brief sees "Only the studio's owner or an admin can change studio-wide rules."

If a member tells MONA something that sounds like a studio rule, MONA saves it as that member's own rule and says so in one line. An owner or admin can make it studio-wide later.

An owner can also lock down the wider studio brain by role. In Settings, then Team, then Permissions, the Studio Brain row (shared notes, client and project pages) can be set to Allowed, Only their own, or Not allowed for each role.

How does MONA learn from corrections?

When a message starts with words like "never", "don't", or "stop", MONA saves it as a rule before it does anything else. You do not need to say "remember this."

  • A studio-wide correction from an owner or admin becomes a studio rule.
  • A personal preference, or any correction from a member, becomes your own rule.
  • A rule corrected two or more times becomes Locked. MONA checks locked rules before it labels, archives, drafts, or edits a proposal, and refuses an action that would break one.

Where can I see and edit every rule?

Go to Settings, then Rules. The page is titled Rules MONA follows and has four sections:

  1. Studio rules: learned from corrections, binding on everyone. Each shows a Locked badge if it was corrected more than once, and when it started.
  2. From How we work: the rule lines from your studio brief, with a link to Edit How we work.
  3. Your rules: only for your chats. Nobody else on the team sees these.
  4. Proposal checks: warnings MONA runs on proposals, switched on or off by an owner or admin.

Click Edit to reword a rule (it keeps its lock), Remove to delete it, or type a new one and click Add rule.

What is the difference between studio and personal memory?

MONA keeps three kinds of memory:

  • Studio memory: what MONA learns that applies to the whole studio.
  • Project memory: one note per project, for decisions and context that belong to that job.
  • Your notebook: a private notebook for each person. Your rules for MONA live here.

Wherever your notes are listed, filter by Studio or My Notebook. Personal notes carry an Only you badge. To give the team a personal note, choose Share with the studio. That cannot be undone, so the note stays a studio note from then on.

What is the Wiki?

On the Premium, Pro, Studio, and Unlimited plans, Wiki in the left menu is an encyclopedia of your studio that MONA writes as you work. It has pages for your Studio Profile, Clients, Projects, Library, Floorplans, Meetings, Documents, and Notes, plus Recent Updates and a Daily log. Each page shows its references, what links to it, and related pages, and Recent updates labels each change as made by MONA or by you.

Click Edit on any page to change it. A red link points to a page that does not exist yet; click it to create it. Use Search the wiki at the top of the page tree to find a page.
