What can the MONA AI agent do, and how do I ask it for help?
Open Ask MONA in the left menu or the Ask MONA button at the top of any page and type what you need. MONA works across your projects, files, schedules, money, and email.
Quick answer: Click Ask MONA in the left menu, or the Ask MONA button at the top of any page, and type what you need in plain words. MONA is an AI agent that works inside your studio's data: projects, the Library, schedules, proposals, invoices, contacts, meetings, and connected email and calendars. It does the work and shows you the result, and it asks before anything goes out to a client.
What can the MONA agent do?
Treat MONA like a studio assistant who already knows your projects. A few things people ask for every day:
- Render a room from a photo or a floor plan, or change one piece in an existing render.
- Build or update an FF&E schedule, a client presentation, or a proposal.
- Draft an invoice, a purchase order, or a reply to a client email.
- Find products, compare prices, and add them to a project.
- Make tasks, log time, and answer questions like "what did the client decide about the sofa?" or "what is still unpaid on the Hudson project?"
When a chat is empty, MONA offers starter chips such as FF&E schedule, Render, Client presentation, and Proposal. Clicking a chip fills in the request; it never sends on its own. Typing a forward slash in the message box opens the same list.
Where do I chat with MONA?
There are two places, and they share the same chats:
- The full chat page. Click Ask MONA in the left menu (monaverse.com/chat). Your chats are listed on the left under All threads, with a Search chats box and a New chat button.
- The Ask MONA panel. Click the Ask MONA button in the top bar on any page. MONA can see the page you are on, shown as a Viewing chip, so you can say "add these to the Hudson schedule" without explaining where you are.
The panel has a Switch chat mode menu with three options:
- Sidebar sits to the right and moves the page over so nothing is covered. Drag its left edge to make it wider or narrower; double-click the edge to reset it.
- Floating is a small card in the bottom right corner, over the page.
- Full page opens the same chat on the full chat page.
MONA remembers your choice and width next time. On a phone, the panel opens full screen.
How do I give MONA files or Library items?
Click the plus button in the message box:
- Upload from computer for photos, floor plans, PDFs, spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint files, CAD drawings (DWG, DXF), videos, audio, and 3D room scans (USDZ).
- Choose from Library to pick images, products, or files you already saved. Select several and click Attach.
You can also drag files onto the chat or paste them. Size limits are 50 MB for images, 100 MB for video and audio, 25 MB for CAD drawings, and 400 MB for other files.
How do project chats work?
Every project has a MONA chats tab. A chat you start there with New chat is linked to the project, and MONA brings the project's context into every message. To move an existing chat, open its menu and choose Add to project or Move to project. If MONA files a chat under a project on its own, the project chip has a dashed border; move it from the menu if that is wrong. On the full chat page you can filter the list to one project or to General (no project).
Does MONA ask before it sends anything?
Yes. MONA will only send an invoice, proposal, purchase order, payment reminder, client portal update, or vendor quote request when your latest message tells it to send, or when you answer yes after it shows you what would go out. A hedged answer like "yes, but change the date" is not a yes; MONA makes the change and asks again.
Email is safer still: replies MONA writes in Gmail or Outlook are saved as drafts in your inbox, and you press send. New calendar events, clients, and projects are proposed first and created after you confirm.
Can MONA work on something in the background?
Yes. Say "do this in the background" (for example, "in the background, build the FF&E schedule for the Hudson project from these PDFs"). MONA starts the work in a new chat of its own, tells you it started, and you keep going. You can have up to five running at once.
When it ends you get a bell notification and a push: MONA finished, MONA has a question on, or MONA hit a problem on, followed by the chat's title. Anything in a background chat that would go to a client waits for your yes inside that chat.
How do I stop, rename, archive, or delete a chat?
- Stop: while MONA is working, the send arrow turns into a red stop button. Click it and the chat shows "You stopped this response." If you type instead, your message waits and runs after the current task.
- Rename, pin, archive, delete: open the chat's menu in the thread list and choose Rename, Pin to top, Archive, or Delete. Archived chats live under the Archived button at the top of the list. Delete cannot be undone.
How do I share a chat?
New chats are Private: only you and workspace admins can see them. To change that, click Share in the top right of a chat you started. Under Who can see this chat, choose:
- Private: only you and workspace admins.
- Studio: everyone at your studio can read it.
- Only me: not even workspace admins.
From the chat's menu, Invite people brings a teammate in with Can view (they read along live) or Can chat (they can message MONA there too, and MONA knows who is talking).
You can also turn on a public link with Anyone with the link can view. It is a read-only copy of the messages up until now, with text and images only. Switching back to Private turns the link off.
If your studio has teammates, you can leave them a note in a chat without MONA reading it: click Note next to the plus button and tag people with @.

Frequently asked questions
What can I ask the MONA agent to do? Anything you would hand a studio assistant: renders from a photo or floor plan, FF&E schedules, client presentations, proposals, invoices, purchase orders, product sourcing, tasks, time entries, email drafts, and answers about your projects, meetings, and finances.
Will MONA send anything to a client without asking me? No. Invoices, proposals, purchase orders, payment reminders, and vendor quote requests only go out when your message tells MONA to send, or when you say yes after MONA shows you what would go out. Email replies are saved as drafts in your own inbox for you to send.
Can I keep working while MONA does a long task? Yes. Ask MONA to do it in the background. It starts the work in its own chat, answers you right away, and sends you a notification titled MONA finished when it is done.
How do I stop MONA in the middle of a response? Click the red stop button in the message box while MONA is working. The chat shows You stopped this response, and you can send a new message.
How do I archive or delete a chat? Hover the chat in the thread list and open its menu. Choose Archive to hide it, or Delete to remove it for good. Archived chats are under the Archived button at the top of the thread list.
Who can see my chats? New chats are Private: only you and workspace admins. You can change a chat to Studio so the whole team can read it, or to Only me to hide it from admins too.
Do chats use credits? Yes. Each chat turn uses AI credits from your studio's pool, based on how much work MONA did. Settings, then Credits, shows your usage under By chat and task.
Can I pick which AI model MONA uses? No. MONA chooses the model for each job, so there is no model setting in the chat.
