How do I import Pinterest boards into MONA?

Connect Pinterest in Settings, Integrations, then link boards on a project’s Pinterest tab, or paste a public board link in Files. Personal Pinterest accounts must switch to business.

Quick answer: Connect Pinterest in Settings, then Integrations, open a project, click the Pinterest tab, and click Link a board. The board’s pins show up inside the project, and any pin is one click from your Library or your FF&E schedule. To bring in a client’s public board without any login, open the project’s Files tab and click Import Pinterest board. Pinterest only lets MONA read business accounts, so a personal Pinterest account has to switch to a free business account first.

The moodboard or inspiration board you already keep on Pinterest is the front of the job. These tools put it on the project instead of in another browser tab.

Who can use this?

  • Plans: every MONA plan, including Free.
  • Pinterest account: linking your own boards needs a Pinterest business account. Importing a public board by link needs no Pinterest account at all.
  • Teammates: anyone on the project sees boards you link. Pinterest only lets MONA read a board through the account that linked it, so if you disconnect, teammates see The teammate who linked this board needs to reconnect Pinterest.

How do I connect Pinterest to MONA?

  1. Open Integrations. Click your profile photo in the top right, choose Team Settings, then Integrations. Or go to monaverse.com/settings/integrations.
  2. Click Connect Pinterest on the Pinterest card.
  3. Sign in to Pinterest and approve access for MONA. You land back on Integrations with Account connected.

You can also connect from any project: the Pinterest tab shows Connect Pinterest until you do.

Why does MONA say to switch Pinterest to a business account?

If the Pinterest tab says Switch Pinterest to a business account, your connection worked but the Pinterest account is a personal one. Pinterest only lets apps like MONA read boards on business accounts (Pinterest’s technical error for this is code 6410). Reconnecting alone does not change it. To fix it:

  1. In Pinterest, open Settings, then Account management.
  2. Choose Convert to a business account. It is free, takes about a minute, and keeps every board and pin.
  3. Refresh the project in MONA. Your boards appear. If they do not, disconnect and reconnect Pinterest once in Settings, then Integrations.

While you sort that out, you can still bring in any public board by link (below).

  1. Open the project and click the Pinterest tab.
  2. Click Link a board. The Link a Pinterest board window lists your boards. Type in Search boards by name or paste a board link to find one fast.
  3. Pick the board. You see a message that it is linked, and its pins fill the tab. Under the board name, MONA shows who linked it and whether it is a secret board (visible only to your studio).
  4. Filter by section. If the board has sections, click a section chip to narrow the pins, or All to see everything.
  5. Link more boards with Link a board again. Each linked board gets a chip at the top of the tab so you can switch between them.

How do I save a pin to the Library or the FF&E schedule?

Each pin on the Pinterest tab has three buttons:

  • Save to Library copies the image into your MONA Library, filed on the project. Use it for inspiration images you want in moodboards, Canvas, slides, or renders.
  • Add to schedule adds the pin as a new line on the project’s FF&E schedule (product schedule). Type a Room (optional), like Primary bath, then click Add to schedule. Use it when the pin is a real product you want to spec.
  • Open on Pinterest opens the original pin.

After saving, the message includes a button that takes you straight to the file or the schedule.

Use this for a board a client sends you, or when your own account is personal. No Pinterest login is needed.

  1. Open the project and click the Files tab.
  2. Click Import Pinterest board.
  3. Paste the board link, for example https://www.pinterest.com/name/board/. A pin.it short link works too.
  4. Decide on a client concept board. Make a client concept board is ticked by default. It creates a link where your client comments on each image, which is the quickest way to learn what they actually like about each photo. Untick it to just import the pictures.
  5. Click Import. Progress shows each stage. You can close the window and the import keeps going.
  6. Open the result. Up to 60 pins land in a Concept board folder on the project. Click Open folder to see them, or Copy client link to share the concept board. The link is not sent to anyone until you share it.

Can I add Pinterest pins to a Canvas moodboard?

Yes. In a Canvas, click Upload in the toolbar and choose From Pinterest. Paste a pin or a public board link and click Import. The pictures land on the board and are saved to your Library too. No Pinterest login is needed.

Can the MONA agent work with Pinterest?

Yes. Ask in chat, for example "Link my Elm Street kitchen board to the Elm Street project" or "Import this Pinterest board into the Hudson project" with a board link. The agent can list your boards, link and unlink them, save pins, and import a public board by link, the same as the buttons above.

What it does not do (yet)

  • Personal Pinterest accounts cannot be read. Pinterest limits this. Convert to a free business account, or import public boards by link.
  • No live sync on imported boards. A board imported by link is a copy of up to 60 pins. Pins added later on Pinterest do not appear; import again if needed. Linked boards on the Pinterest tab do show the current pins.
  • No posting to Pinterest. MONA reads boards. It does not publish pins.

On the project’s Pinterest tab, click the three-dot Board options button and choose Unlink board, then Unlink. Nothing changes on Pinterest, and anything you already saved to the Library or the schedule stays. To disconnect your account, click Disconnect on the Pinterest card in Settings, then Integrations.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my Pinterest boards into MONA?

Yes, two ways. Connect Pinterest in Settings, then Integrations, and link your boards on a project’s Pinterest tab. Or paste any public board link in the project’s Files tab with Import Pinterest board, which needs no Pinterest login.

Why does MONA say to switch Pinterest to a business account?

Pinterest only lets MONA read boards on Pinterest business accounts. Your connection worked, but the account is personal. In Pinterest open Settings, then Account management, then Convert to a business account. It is free, takes about a minute, and keeps every board and pin. Then refresh MONA.

What is Pinterest error 6410?

Code 6410 is Pinterest refusing to share a personal account’s boards with an app. In MONA it shows as Switch Pinterest to a business account. Reconnecting alone does not fix it. Convert the account to a free business account, then refresh MONA.

Do I need a Pinterest account to import a board?

Not for a public board. Use Import Pinterest board on a project’s Files tab and paste the board link. Secret boards need the Pinterest connection and a business account.

How many pins does a board import bring in?

A board imported by link brings in up to 60 pins. A board linked through your Pinterest connection shows all its pins on the project’s Pinterest tab, and you save the ones you want one at a time.

Can my client comment on the Pinterest images?

Yes. When you import a board by link, leave Make a client concept board ticked. MONA creates a concept board link where your client comments on each image. It is not sent to anyone until you share it.

Does MONA post anything to my Pinterest?

No. Linking a board only reads it. Nothing is published, unlinking a board changes nothing on Pinterest, and only your studio sees what you link.

Which MONA plans include Pinterest?

Every plan, including Free.
