Does MONA work with SketchUp, Revit, or other CAD tools?
MONA works alongside SketchUp, Revit, ArchiCAD, and Chief Architect: export your plan as an image or PDF, upload it, and bring MONA's 3D models back into your CAD tool.
Yes, alongside them rather than by opening their native files. MONA does not import .skp, .rvt, or other CAD project files directly. Instead, you export your plan or model view as an image or PDF from your CAD tool, upload that to MONA, and MONA takes it from there. Going the other direction, 3D models you generate in MONA export as FBX or OBJ, which SketchUp and most CAD tools import.
Getting your work into MONA
Every CAD tool can export or print a view as a PDF or image, and that is all MONA needs:
- In SketchUp, Revit, ArchiCAD, or Chief Architect, export the floor plan view as a PDF, PNG, or JPG. Keep the dimension labels visible, since MONA reads measurements from the printed dimension text.
- Upload it in MONA. The floor plan uploader accepts PNG, JPG, HEIC, and PDF.
- MONA reads the dimensions, reconstructs the space, and you continue in MONA: renders, restyles, targeted edits, presentations.
The same applies to renders and photos: any image export from your existing pipeline can be uploaded and worked on.
Getting MONA's work back into SketchUp
3D models generated in MONA can be exported as FBX (works in SketchUp, Unity, Unreal), OBJ (universal), STL (3D printing), or GLB (web). To bring a MONA model into SketchUp, export it as FBX or OBJ and import it there.
Connected tools
Beyond file exchange, MONA connects directly to tools studios already use, from the Integrations page in settings: Google Workspace, Outlook, Canva, QuickBooks, Trello, Asana, Dropbox, and Instagram. Dropbox is a handy bridge here: if your exported plans and project files live in Dropbox, the MONA agent can search them and pull a file into a project without re-uploading.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload a .skp or .rvt file directly? Not today. Export the view you want as a PDF or image first. That is a one-click export in every major CAD tool.
Will my dimensions carry over? Yes, as long as the dimension labels are legible in your export. MONA reads printed measurements rather than guessing from pixel sizes, and it will tell you if it cannot find any.
Can I keep doing final documentation in my CAD tool? Absolutely. Most studios use MONA for visualization, client presentation, and iteration speed, and keep their existing CAD tool for construction documents.
