Can I download 3D models from MONA and use them in SketchUp?
Yes. Generate 3D models from images in MONA and export them as FBX, OBJ, STL, or GLB. FBX and OBJ import directly into SketchUp and other 3D tools.
Yes. Models you generate in MONA can be exported in four formats: FBX, OBJ, STL, and GLB. For SketchUp, export FBX or OBJ and import it there like any other model file. The same files work in Unity, Unreal, Blender, and the rest of the standard 3D pipeline.
Generating a 3D model
- From one image. Turn any render, product photo, or reference image into a 3D model. There is a standard tier and an HD tier, where HD adds texture quality options (No Texture, Standard, or HD), PBR materials, and control over model density.
- From multiple views. If you have front, side, and back photos of a piece, multiview generation uses all of them for a more faithful model.
Generated models appear in your Library's Models tab with an interactive 3D viewer, so you can inspect them in the browser before exporting anything.
Export formats
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| FBX | SketchUp, Unity, Unreal Engine |
| OBJ | Universal, opens almost everywhere |
| STL | 3D printing |
| GLB | Web viewers and AR pipelines |
Pick the format from the export menu on the model. Conversions run on MONA's side, so you download a ready file rather than converting locally.
What studios use this for
Bringing a MONA-generated furniture piece into an existing SketchUp scene, 3D printing a concept piece for a client meeting, dropping models into a game engine walkthrough, or building a reusable library of modeled inventory.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a native .skp export? No, use FBX or OBJ, which SketchUp imports directly.
Do the textures come with the export? GLB carries textures natively, and HD-tier generations with PBR give the best material fidelity for downstream use. For STL, remember it is geometry only by design, since it targets 3D printing.
Can I upload my own 3D model to MONA? MONA's pipeline is built around generating models from images. If you have photos of the piece, generate from those, and multiview gives the closest match.
