How do I replace one piece of furniture and keep everything else the same?
Outline the piece with Region Edit, attach a reference image of the replacement, and MONA swaps it in while leaving the rest of the room pixel-identical.
Outline the piece with Region Edit, attach a picture of what should replace it, and submit. MONA regenerates only the outlined area with the new piece and composites it back onto your original, so the rest of the room stays exactly as it was.
Step by step
- Open the render and click Region edit.
- Click points around the piece you want to replace, then press Enter to close the outline. Include the piece's shadow area if you want the replacement grounded naturally.
- Attach the replacement as a reference image: From Library if you have already saved it, or Upload for a product photo, a vendor image, or a photo of a piece from your own inventory.
- Write a short instruction, for example "replace this armchair with the referenced chair, keep the rug and everything else unchanged."
- Submit. The swap typically takes under a minute, and you can hold the Compare button afterward to flip between before and after.
If you do not have a specific replacement in mind, skip the reference and describe what you want instead: "replace this with a mid-century walnut credenza."
Where reference images come from
- Your Library. Any image you have generated or uploaded.
- Vendor product photos. Save a product URL to your Products library and MONA pulls the image, or just upload the photo directly.
- Your own inventory. Stagers and designers with owned stock can photograph pieces once and reuse them across projects.
Frequently asked questions
Will the new piece match the room's lighting and perspective? Yes. The outlined area is regenerated in the context of the whole image, so the replacement picks up the scene's light, shadows, and angle rather than looking cut and pasted.
Can I try several options quickly? Yes. Run the same outline with different references, then use the asset history to flip between versions and keep the winner.
Does this cost a full render each time? Targeted edits draw from the same credit pool as other generations, but you are only regenerating a region, and your original is never consumed or altered.
