How do I make a fly-through video of a room?

In Ask MONA, click +, choose Fly-through video, attach a render and say how the camera should move. MONA animates it into a 4 to 30 second clip you can download or stitch.

Quick answer: In Ask MONA, click the + button, choose Fly-through video, attach the render you want to animate, and say how the camera should move ("slow push-in toward the window"). MONA confirms the length, sound, and quality in one message, then makes a 4 to 30 second clip that lands in the chat and in your Library, ready to download.

A fly-through (also called a walkthrough video or animated render) is a short clip where the camera glides through a room. In MONA it starts from one image you already have, usually a photorealistic render, and the camera move is what you describe in words. It is the quickest way to give a client, an Instagram Reel, or a presentation some motion without building a full 3D animation.

Before you start

  • You need a starting image. Every clip uses one image as its first frame: a render, a staged photo, or a site photo you have in MONA. If you do not have a render yet, see How do I create a photorealistic render from a floor plan? first.
  • Clips use credits from your shared pool. Video is the heaviest thing MONA makes, so check the credit table below before you ask for a stack of 30-second clips.
  • It is available on every plan, as long as your pool has enough credits left for the clip. If it does not, MONA tells you instead of starting it.

How do I make a fly-through video of a room?

  1. Open Ask MONA from the sidebar. If the chat is inside a project, MONA can pull a render from that project for you.
  2. Click the + button next to the message box and choose Fly-through video in the Create section (its description reads "A walkthrough video of a room, made from a render"). You can also type / in the message box and start typing "fly".
  3. Attach the starting image. Drag the render into the chat, or use +, then Choose from Library. If you do not attach anything, MONA finds a render in the project.
  4. Describe the room and the camera move. The message box prompts you with "Which room, and how should the camera move?" For example: "Living room. Slow push-in from the entry toward the fireplace, late afternoon light."
  5. Answer MONA's one confirming question. Unless you already said, MONA asks about the camera move, the length (8, 15 or 30 seconds), sound on or off, and standard or highest quality, all in one message.
  6. Wait a few minutes. The clip renders in the background. When it is done, a Your video is ready card appears in the chat with a player and a Download video button.

The clip is also saved in Library under the Videos tab. Open it there to use Share, or More options, then Download.

Which camera moves work best for interiors?

Slow moves that keep the room's geometry steady give the cleanest result, because fast or complex moves can warp cabinetry and millwork. Good starting points:

  • Slow push-in toward a focal point (a fireplace, a window wall, a bed).
  • Gentle orbit around a centerpiece like a dining table or kitchen island.
  • Slow pan across a long room or a view.
  • Pull-back reveal that starts on a detail and widens to the room.

Name the room, the direction, and the speed. One move per clip beats a list of three.

How long can the video be, and what does it cost?

Video is metered per second of footage, from the same credit pool as renders and agent chat.

QualityLengthCredits per secondExample
Standard (720p, the default)4 to 30 seconds128 seconds = 96 credits, 30 seconds = 360 credits
Standard at 1080p (ask for 1080p)4 to 30 seconds268 seconds = 208 credits
Highest quality4, 6 or 8 seconds108 seconds = 80 credits

The conversation with MONA uses a few credits on top, like any chat. For context, Pro includes 2,000 credits a month and Studio includes 5,000, shared across the team.

How do I make one walkthrough of several rooms?

MONA makes one clip per image, so a whole-house walkthrough is a few clips stitched together.

  1. Make one clip per room. Ask for a fly-through of each render, or say "make an 8 second push-in for each of the four renders in this project."
  2. Ask MONA to stitch them, in the order you want: "stitch the entry, living room and kitchen clips."
  3. Open Marketing, then Video Edits in the sidebar. Your edit is there as a timeline. Click it to open the editor, reorder or trim clips, then click Export.

What it does not do (yet)

  • No text-only videos. Every clip needs a starting image.
  • Not a measured 3D walkthrough. The camera move is generated from a still, so it is for mood and presentation, not for checking clearances. For a to-scale model you can orbit, see How do I draw a floor plan in MONA?.
  • No multi-room camera path in one clip. Each clip stays in the room shown in its first frame; stitch clips for a tour.
  • 30 seconds per clip at most, and 8 seconds for highest quality.

Frequently asked questions

Can MONA make a walkthrough video of an interior design?

Yes. MONA animates one of your renders or room photos into a short video with a camera move, such as a slow push-in, a pan, or a gentle orbit. Each clip starts from one image, and you can stitch several room clips into one walkthrough.

How long can a fly-through video be?

Standard quality clips run anywhere from 4 to 30 seconds in one pass, and MONA usually offers 8, 15 or 30. Highest quality clips max out at 8 seconds. For a longer piece, make several clips and have MONA stitch them.

How many credits does a fly-through video use?

Video is metered per second of footage. Standard quality (720p) is 12 credits per second, so 8 seconds is 96 credits and 30 seconds is 360. 1080p is 26 credits per second. Highest quality is 10 credits per second and capped at 8 seconds. The chat itself uses a little more.

How long does it take to make the video?

Usually a few minutes, and longer or higher-resolution clips take longer. It runs in the background, so you can keep working. The clip appears in the chat when it is ready.

Where do I find my videos?

In the chat where you asked for it, and in Library under the Videos tab. Open a video to share it, or use More options, then Download.

Can I turn off the sound?

Yes. Clips include generated sound by default. Tell MONA sound off when it asks, or say it up front, and you get a silent clip you can score or caption yourself.

Is the video dimensionally accurate like a 3D model?

No. A fly-through animates a still image, so it is great for mood and presentation, not for checking clearances. For an accurate, walkable model, draw or convert the plan in MONA CAD and use its 3D view.

Can I make a video from a photo instead of a render?

Yes. Any image you own works as the first frame, including a site photo or a staged room photo. A clean, well-lit image gives the steadiest result.
