How do I switch from Houzz Pro to MONA?
Export your clients, vendors, selections, boards, documents, and files from Houzz Pro, then import them into MONA: clients via CSV, selections into a project schedule, files into your Library.
Quick answer: Export your data from Houzz Pro (client and vendor lists as CSV, each project's selections as Excel, boards and documents as PDF, files one by one), then bring it into MONA in three moves: Clients, then Import CSV for people, a chat with MONA to turn each selections spreadsheet into a live project schedule, and a drag onto the Library for everything else. There is no one-click Houzz Pro importer yet, so plan about ten minutes per project, and do the exports before your Houzz Pro subscription ends.
The selections spreadsheet is the part that matters most. MONA rebuilds it as a schedule with photos, prices, vendors, and links you can keep working from, and the MONA agent can then find alternates, build a client presentation, or turn it into an estimate.
Before you start
Three things about Houzz Pro to know before you export:
- Do not cancel first. Houzz Pro needs a cancellation request at least 30 days before your renewal date, and your login stops working when the subscription ends. Export everything while you still have access.
- Export links expire. Excel and PDF exports from Houzz Pro are emailed to you or posted to the bell icon and stay downloadable for 24 hours. Image links inside an Excel export expire within hours. Download each file as soon as it arrives.
- Houzz Pro exports one project at a time for selections, boards, and files. The Global Tracker Report below is the one place you can pull every project's selections in a single file.
Step 1: Export your clients, vendors, and subcontractors from Houzz Pro
These are one-time exports for the whole company.
Clients. In the left navigation open Company, then Clients. Click Options in the top right and choose Export Client List. Your whole client list downloads as a .csv with names, emails, phones, and addresses.
Vendors and subcontractors. Open Company, then Vendors. Click Actions in the top right and choose Export Vendor List. Do the same under Subcontractors with Export Subcontractor List. Only the current view is exported, so clear any Tags, Type, or Trade filters at the top of the page before you click.
Step 2: Export each project's selections as an Excel file
Do this once per project. It is the export that becomes your MONA schedule.
- Open the project in Houzz Pro and go to Selections.
- Set Type to Product, then select every item on the list.
- Click Export in the top right and choose Download as Excel.
- In the modal choose the Custom preset and set the columns:
- Under Item, keep Original Title and Status. Untick Title (client facing) unless you want it instead of the original title; keep one title column, not both.
- Untick Image and Image Link. The image links expire within hours, and MONA fetches a fresh photo from each product link during import.
- Set Details/Info, Pricing, Schedule, and Additional Info to all. Details/Info is where the vendor, SKU, dimensions, finish, room, and product link live.
- Click Download as Excel. Houzz Pro emails the file to the address on your account. Save it as soon as it arrives.
If you want all projects in one file, run the Global Tracker Report instead. Open Financials, then Reports, and under Selections Tracker click Generate Report next to Global Tracker Report. Use the Projects dropdown to pick the projects, click Apply, then Generate Report. Choose Excel or CSV and the Custom preset, then Download Report. The report is emailed to you and stays on your Reports page for 24 hours. Because MONA imports into one project at a time, either run the report once per project or split the file by its project column before importing.
The Selections Tracker on a project also has an Export button with Download as FFE Schedule (Excel). It works the same way and is a good fallback if a project's Selections list is empty.
Step 3: Download boards, documents, and files
Mood boards. Open the mood board and click Print & Download in the top right, then Download PDF. Every page marked Show is included. Download JPEG exports only the current page.
Selection boards. Open the board, click Actions, and choose Download PDF. If you want one page per product with the image, price, finish, and SKU, choose Download Tear Sheets instead and toggle on the details you want.
Estimates, proposals, invoices, and change orders. From any documents list view, tick the checkboxes next to the documents you want, then click Download PDFs at the bottom of the page. Houzz Pro builds one ZIP of individual PDFs and posts the link in the bell icon in the left navigation. The link works for 24 hours. For a single document, open it and click Download as PDF at the top.
Files and photos. Open the project and click Files & Photos under Management. Open each file, then click the download icon in the preview toolbar. Houzz Pro downloads files one at a time, so start with the ones a client or vendor could still ask for: signed proposals, spec sheets, floor plans, and site photos.
Step 4: Import your clients and vendors into MONA
Go to Clients and click Import CSV. Choose the Houzz Pro client export. MONA shows every column in the file so you can decide where each goes (name, email, phone, company, address, notes, and more) before anything is saved. Rows with a matching email update the existing contact instead of creating a duplicate, so it is safe to run again with a corrected file. Up to 2,000 contacts per import.
Do the same with the vendor and subcontractor exports. Before you upload them, add a column named type and fill it with vendor for vendors and contractor or tradesperson for subcontractors. MONA reads that column and files each contact under the right type. If a contact's company column matches a company MONA already knows, it links the person to that company.
Step 5: Create the project in MONA
Go to Projects and click New Project. Give it the same name you used in Houzz Pro so the files, schedule, and documents you bring over next line up. A project in MONA holds the schedule, files, chats, renders, estimates, and client sharing for that job.
Step 6: Import the selections into the project schedule
Open the project, click the Schedule tab, then open a chat with MONA, drag the Houzz Pro Excel file in, and say:
Import this spreadsheet into the schedule for [project name].
MONA reads the header row and matches the Houzz Pro columns to the schedule: Original Title becomes the line description, Vendor becomes the supplier, SKU becomes the item code, Room becomes the room, the price column becomes the line price, dimensions, material, finish, and lead time land in their own fields, and the product link becomes the line's link. It shows you the mapping before it writes anything. Columns without a home, like approval status, order tracking, or your custom columns, are kept in each line's notes as "Header: value" pairs, so nothing from Houzz Pro is lost. It then visits each product link and saves the product photo to the line.
A few things to know:
- Excel (.xlsx) and CSV both work. Files up to 15 MB and 1,000 lines import in one go.
- Photos are fetched from the product links for the first 60 lines of each import. If a project has more than 60 products, split the spreadsheet into smaller files before importing.
- A row whose title is in capitals with no price or vendor (SEATING, LIGHTING) is treated as a section header, and the lines under it are grouped the way they were in Houzz Pro.
- The imported lines are schedule lines for that project. If you want a piece in your reusable Products library too, open it from its product link (Products, then Add product, then From URL) or hand the link to MONA in chat and say "save this."
Step 7: Upload boards, documents, and files
Open the project's Files tab, or go to Library, and drag in the mood board PDFs, tear sheets, document PDFs, and project files. MONA files each by type automatically, so PDFs land under Files and images under Images. Uploading from the project's Files tab keeps them attached to the job; from the Library, use the Project filter to attach them afterward.
Once a PDF is in your Library, MONA can read it. Open a chat, point it at a proposal, and it can pull the scope, product list, or pricing out of it for you.
Step 8: Rebuild live documents, then cancel Houzz Pro
Estimates, proposals, and invoices come over as PDFs for reference, not as live records. When you are ready to bill, create them in MONA from the imported schedule; the agent can draft an estimate from the schedule lines in a minute.
When every project is in MONA and you have downloaded the files you need, cancel Houzz Pro from Settings, then Subscriptions, then Manage My Subscriptions, and click Submit Request. Houzz Pro requires the request at least 30 days before your renewal date and most plans are annual contracts, so check your renewal date first. Houzz says it keeps a copy of your business data for 90 days after cancellation and can provide it in Excel format to your account administrator on request, but you will not be able to log in to fetch it yourself.
What does not carry over as-is
Houzz Pro mood boards and selection boards export as flat PDFs and images, so the layout is not editable in MONA. Rebuild a board you still need as a MONA mood board or presentation from the schedule, which takes a few minutes. Estimates, proposals, invoices, and change orders come over as PDFs, not live records. Client approvals, comments, payment history, time entries, daily logs, and lead pipeline history stay in Houzz Pro; download the PDFs and keep your client export so the contact details survive. 3D floor plans built in Houzz Pro do not export as CAD; upload the 2D plan PDF or image to MONA instead and MONA works from that.

Frequently asked questions
Can I import my Houzz Pro data into MONA? Yes. Houzz Pro exports clients, vendors, and subcontractors as CSV, product selections as Excel, and boards, documents, and files as PDFs and images. MONA imports the CSVs into Clients, the Excel selections into a project schedule, and the files into your Library. There is no one-click Houzz Pro importer, so plan about ten minutes per project.
How do I export my projects from Houzz Pro? Per project: open the project, go to Selections, set Type to Product, select all, click Export, and choose Download as Excel with the Custom preset. For every project at once, run the Global Tracker Report under Financials, then Reports, and download it as Excel or CSV. Boards, documents, and files download separately as PDFs or images.
How do I export my client list from Houzz Pro? Open Company, then Clients, click Options in the top right, and choose Export Client List. You get a .csv with every client. Vendors and subcontractors export the same way from their own sections using the Actions menu.
Will my product photos come over from Houzz Pro? Yes, from the product links. The image links in a Houzz Pro export expire within hours, so leave them out. When you import the selections into a MONA schedule, MONA visits each product link and saves the photo for the first 60 lines of the file. For a bigger project, split the spreadsheet into files of 60 lines or fewer.
Do I need to convert the Houzz Pro Excel file to CSV? No. MONA imports .xlsx and .csv files directly, up to 15 MB and 1,000 rows each. Drag the Houzz Pro Excel export straight into the chat.
What happens to my estimates, proposals, and invoices? They come over as PDFs for reference, filed in your Library and readable by the MONA agent. They are not live records. Create new estimates, proposals, and invoices in MONA from the imported schedule when you are ready to bill, which takes a few minutes per document.
How long do I have before Houzz Pro deletes my data? Export before you cancel. Houzz Pro requires a cancellation request at least 30 days before your renewal date and your access ends when the subscription does. Houzz says it keeps a copy of your business data for 90 days after cancellation and can provide it in Excel format to the account administrator on request, but you cannot log in to fetch it yourself.
Do I need the Studio plan to migrate? No. Projects, schedules, Library uploads, and client and vendor imports are on every plan. The reusable Products library, where you save a product once and drop it into any project, is a Studio plan feature.
Can MONA do the import for me? Yes. Drop the Houzz Pro export into a chat, say which project it belongs to, and MONA imports it. Same for a client list. Nothing is written until MONA confirms the column mapping with you. Every plan also includes a setup session where we move your first project over together.
