Can I bring my projects over from DesignFiles?

Yes. You do not have to start over. DesignFiles lets you export each project's product list as a CSV, your client presentations as PDFs, your design boards as images, and any files you attached. MONA takes all of those. There is no one-click DesignFiles importer yet, so the move is a short pass per project. The product list is the part that matters most, because MONA rebuilds it as a live schedule with photos, prices, and links you can keep working from.

Step 1: Export each project from DesignFiles

Do this once per project. Four exports cover everything DesignFiles holds.

The product list (the important one). In DesignFiles, open Projects, pick the project, click the More Options button (the three dots) and choose Export Project Products (csv). The file downloads with a column for product name, image, link, price, quantity, total, vendor, SKU, dimensions, material or finish, board name, and board URL.

The client presentation. In the same project, on the Designs tab, click Share and choose Download Client Presentation (pdf). Tick the boards, product lists, and rationales you want, pick portrait or landscape, and click Generate Presentation.

The design boards as images. On the Design Boards tab, open a board, click the More Options button and choose Download Board Design (jpg). The image opens in a new tab; right-click it and choose Save As.

Attached files. In the project, click More and then Attachments to download any documents, invoices, or spec sheets you uploaded there.

Your client list is a one-time export, not per project. If it lives in a spreadsheet or your email contacts, export it as a CSV (or a vCard from your contacts app). DesignFiles does not document a client export, so if your clients live only there, copy the names and emails into a sheet first.

Step 2: Create the project in MONA

Go to Projects and click New Project. Give it the same name you used in DesignFiles so your files line up. A project in MONA holds the schedule, files, chats, renders, and client sharing for that job, so everything you bring over next lands in one place.

Step 3: Import the product list into the project's schedule

This is where the CSV becomes useful again. Open the project, click the Schedule tab, then open a chat with MONA, drag the CSV in, and say:

Import this spreadsheet into the schedule for [project name].

MONA reads the header row, matches product name, vendor, price, SKU, product link, quantity, and room to the schedule's columns, and shows you the mapping before it writes anything. Columns it does not have a home for, like Board Name, Dimensions, or Material/Finish, are kept in each line's notes, so nothing from DesignFiles is lost. It then visits each product link to pull the product photo into the line.

A few things to know:

• Files up to 15 MB and 1,000 lines import in one go.
• Photos are fetched from the product links for the first 60 lines of each import. If a project has more than 60 products, split the CSV into smaller files before importing.
• The imported lines are schedule lines for that project. If you want a piece in your reusable Products library too, open it from its product link (Products, then Add product, then From URL) or hand the link to MONA in chat and say "save this."

Once it is in, the schedule works like the one you had, plus the parts DesignFiles could not do: ask MONA to find alternates for a line, build a client presentation from it, or turn it into an estimate.

Step 4: Upload presentations, boards, and files to your Library

Go to Library and drag the presentation PDF, the board images, and any attached files onto the drop zone (or click it to browse). MONA files each by type automatically, so PDFs land under Files and board JPGs under Images. To keep them with the job, upload from the project's Files tab instead, or use the Project filter in the Library to attach them afterward.

Once a PDF is in your Library, MONA can read it. Open a chat, point it at the presentation, and it can pull the rationale, product list, or pricing out of it for you.

Step 5: Import your clients

Go to Clients and click Import CSV. Choose the CSV or vCard file, and MONA shows every column so you can decide where each one goes (name, email, phone, company, address, notes, and more) before anything is saved. Rows with a matching email update the existing contact instead of creating a duplicate, so it is safe to run again with a corrected file. Up to 2,000 contacts per import.

Tip: if a contact's company column matches the name of a project you already created, MONA links the contact to that project.

Anything else in a spreadsheet

Trackers, budgets, vendor lists: click New in the sidebar, choose Database, then click Import on the toolbar and pick the .csv or .xlsx. You map the columns first, choose whether to add rows or update existing ones, and nothing is written until you confirm.

What does not carry over as-is

DesignFiles boards are exported as flat images, so the layout is not editable in MONA; rebuild a board you still need as a MONA mood board or presentation from the schedule, which takes a few minutes. Invoices and proposals come over as PDFs for reference, not as live records; create new estimates and invoices in MONA when you are ready. Client comments and approval history stay in DesignFiles.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a one-click DesignFiles import? Not yet. DesignFiles exports one project at a time, and each one takes about ten minutes to bring into MONA with the steps above. If you have a lot of projects, book a setup session and we will move them with you.

Will my product photos come over? Yes, from the product links. When you import the CSV into a schedule, MONA visits each product link and pulls the photo for the first 60 lines of the file. For a longer list, split the CSV into files of 60 lines or fewer.

Do I need the Studio plan for this? Projects, schedules, Library uploads, contacts, and databases are on every plan. The reusable Products library, where you save a product once and drop it into any project, is a Studio plan feature.

Can MONA do the import for me? Yes. Drop the CSV into a chat, say which project it belongs to, and MONA imports it. Same for a client list. The agent uses the same import as the buttons, so nothing is written until it confirms the mapping with you.
