Common questions
How the MONA designer directory works
How do I choose an interior designer?
Start with the work. Look for completed projects close to yours in scale, room type, and style, then shortlist two or three studios and contact them directly. When you speak, ask how they scope a project, who handles day to day communication, what the timeline looks like, and how they bill (hourly, flat fee, or a percentage of furnishings). Process and fees vary from studio to studio, so ask each one rather than assuming.
What does an interior designer do?
An interior designer plans and specifies the inside of a space: layout, furniture, finishes, lighting, and materials. Many studios also handle sourcing and procurement, coordinate with contractors and trades, and manage the installation at the end. Scope varies widely between studios, so confirm exactly what is included before you sign anything.
What does the MONA Verified badge mean?
The badge marks studios with an active MONA subscription that run their real client work (projects, sourcing, visualization) on the platform. Every studio in the directory today is a MONA customer, and the badge confirms the subscription is currently active. It describes how a studio works day to day, it is not a rating of their design or a guarantee about a specific project.
How do I contact a studio on MONA?
Open the studio's profile and use the contact button. It goes to that studio's own inquiry form, booking link, or website, and your message reaches the studio directly. MONA does not sit between you and the studio, and does not resell your inquiry to anyone else.
Do homeowners pay to use this directory?
No. Browsing profiles and contacting studios is free for homeowners. There is no lead fee and studios are not charged per inquiry. Studios pay for MONA as the software they run their business on, and the directory listing comes with it.
